WIM Community Outreach Programs

Women in Motion, Inc. provides a variety of community outreach programs designed to empower women to make healthy lifestyle choices, especially when it comes to HIV/AIDS and other STDs, substance abuse, tobacco cessation, obesity and domestic violence.

Group Education
Picture a Tupperware® or Spa party at your house with women from your church, work or neighborhood.  We ask that you host a party, invite a handful of your friends, preferably 10 or less, and allow us to educate them about the risks associated with HIV/AIDS through demonstrations and other activities. We also provide handouts for you and your friends so that you may pass on the information that will help us fulfill our mission.

Our volunteers are also available to conduct staff and agency presentations, monthly support sessions and other activities to help women reduce their risk for HIV/AIDS.

One on One

One-on-one education tends to be an impromptu, informal chat about the risks associated with HIV/AIDS, rather than a group activity. Through conversation and personal contact, we are able to devote all of our attention to one person, which in turn, may lead to more questions and more.

Bear Forward

Have you seen the movie "Pay it Forward"? This is the same idea, only we're using, you guessed it, small stuffed bears to pass on. The idea is to provide a bit of comfort to someone going through a hard time after a one-on-one discussion or group education party. When that individual finds another who needs comfort, she/he is encouraged to pass on the bear.

Let's Talk

Let's Talk is a monthly meeting where adults, 25 and older, can discuss today's issues openly. The group meets every last Thursday of the month at Lucille Raines, 947 N. Pennsylvania St. from 5:45pm to 7pm.  Snacks will be served.

Several years ago Demeada Williams started Women’s Rap. Women’s Rap is a one day workshop in which women's issues are discussed and solutions are shared. Throughout the years, Women’s Rap has continued to grow and reach women from all walks of life. Its mission is to create a venue in which women can come together in a safe atmosphere to share issues that affect their lives on a daily basis and to provide relief and healing. Women’s Rap is a component of Women in Motion, Inc.
